Will the Apple iPad be an iFlop?

Posted by: thinktankblog | Comments (0)

After months of speculation about the introduction of Apple’s “tablet,” the iPad was finally introduced last week with MUCH fanfare! While there has been much discussion among tech writers and analysts about what it “doesn’t” include, I think that they may have forgotten the history of the iPhone. Shortly after the iPhone launch less than 2 years ago, there was much grumbling about the limitations of the iPhone…most importantly, it’s inability to run third-party apps.

I read the other day a great quote from a photographer. The question was “What’s the best camera?” His answer? “The one you have with you.”

I work with a number of real estate agents. While they may have a large megapixel camera to shoot their listings, increasingly the value of an agent is reflected in how quickly they can get their photos to potential buyers AND how high the quality of the photos is.

Without special lighting (and most agents don’t have that), the photos often end up being either very underexposed or overexposed. However, with this under-$2 iPhone app, just about anyone can get quality photos and quickly e-mail them right to a prospective buyer. See the sample photos below and the link to the iPhone app called PRO HDR. One note: This will only work with the iPhone 3GS and the better camera that it has. Check it out!

We all know by now what appears to be the sad truth about what has happened to Tiger Woods’ squeaky-clean reputation being severely tarnished by admitted “infidelity.” But, when you are one of the highest-paid athletes in the history of sporting AND your “brand” is not just golf but your personal identity…your looks, your smile, your charisma, your personae, your style, your business savvy, your history, your skill, your mystique, etc., then the “Marketing of Tiger Woods” is essential to the ongoing life of the “brand.”

As electronic payments move more frequently to mobile devices, there is still the issue of trying to pay with a credit/debit card and have the payment RECEIVED by a mobile device. Apple started that trend in it’s Apple Stores. But now Twitter is pushing the envelope even further with its new iPhone app called SQUARE. The app feels very Apple-like in its simplicity. Check out the demo video below.

I have to admit that I haven’t been involved much with social media marketing (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin, etc.) until about 6 months ago. However, there is a mountain of evidence showing how valuable this can be for building your business.

If you are involved with sites like Twitter (or others), it is IMPERATIVE that you extend your “visual brand” to these locations as much as you would with your Business Card.

Janette Heckart has been selling real estate for several years now with J.P. Weigand and Sons in Wichita, KS. As a former horse trainer, she was exposed to an affluent clientele. However, as a real estate agent, she felt comfortable working with first-time buyers & sellers as well as seasoned veterans. In any event, she realized that she needed a powerful visual “brand” to connect with ALL of them. So, she retained THINK-TANK to help with that process. Here are the results including her new domain, www.FineHomesInWichita.com.

After 2 years and millions in R&D, Dan Carney (Co-Founder of Pizza Hut International) and Jack Salmans (Founder of ProHome International) have launched a brilliantly-conceived and executed new Buyer Loyalty and Rewards program called HomeStore Rewards. It gives members discounts at over 500 major retailers around the country for both online and in-store purchases. What is unique about this plan is that it uses credit/debit cards that the member ALREADY OWNS AND USES and doesn’t require keeping track of points, miles, etc. (although a member can get BOTH the CASH-BACK and other rewards offered by a card provider).
